Tom
Peters

Tom Peters is the author of many key management
books. He is the founder of The Tom Peters Group, located in Palo Alto, California. With a
dynamic, evangelistic style, often shouting at his audience, he is at his best live, but
his shorter books manage to put across the same excitement and thrill of business at its
best.

The Circle of
Innovation.

The old master does it again! Peters foray into innovation builds on his previous
books and makes excellent use of the slides from his famous presentations to make a unique
business book. If you only have one book on how to do business, this is the one. New

Crazy Times call for Crazy
Organizations.

AKA The Tom Peters Seminar. A brilliant trip through the
crisis that faces modern business and the drastic steps needed to win through, and enjoy
life in a crazy world. Next best after Circle of Innovation (above).
In Search of Excellence (with Robert H. Waterman).

The book that defined the new look business approach of the 80s. Peters and
Waterman cut through the layers of business indifference to highlight what was needed to
truly differentiate from the competition. Has dated a little, which is why Crazy Times is
in the core library, but still a must-have on the wider business shelf.
Liberation Management.

Definitely the low point of the Peters canon, Liberation Management takes a very
long time to make a few crucial messages. There's no doubt at all that the approach is
right, but it does go on. And on. If you want a complete Peters collection, you must have
this - otherwise stick to the others. ... New 9 June 1998
A Passion for Excellence (with Nancy Austin).

The sequel to In Search. Where In Search concentrated on what was needed,
A Passion concentrates on the who - who is doing it well, and what it takes to
generate superior customer service, innovation and empowered employees. Plenty more case
studies and a focus on the driving passion that makes the difference between a moderate
business and a superb one.
Thriving on Chaos.

ToC is rather overlong (though nowhere near as bad as Liberation Management), but
has some very powerful prescriptions for excelling in a world of constant change. His five
key areas are Responsiveness, Innovation, People Power, Leadership and Systems for a World
Turned Upside Down. There are plenty of gems in there if you are prepared to mine.
