A delightful tale of a tiny kingdom suddenly given strategic importance and the search for the treasures which will prove the rightful owner. Anyone who enjoyed Enid Blighton's Famous Five as a child will find a very familiar storyline, but here in the adult version as Campion and the dour Lugg come to the rescue with some chums.

After an exotic start abroad, the book settles down to a treasure hunt in the cosy village of Pontisbright, but everything is hardly rosy with a mad doctor attempting satanic rituals and a gang of criminals racing our heros to the treasure. Add to this romantic interest as Campion's friend falls for local girl Mary Fitton, and the sparky relationship between Campion himself and Mary's younger sister Amanda (who will become Mrs Campion in another book) and the scene is set for a wonderful adventure. Sheer escapism, and none the worse for it.
