Jorge Luis Borges

Borges isn't usually classified as a science fiction author - but that's primarily because any author who is loved by the literary establishment, as Borges certainly is, cannot be classified as an SF writer. Nonetheless his stories are replete with mind-bending originality that enables the reader to see the world in a whole new way - and as far as we're concerned, that's what SF is all about.

Technically much of Borges' work could be called crime stories, but this is no murder mystery as anyone would recognize it.

When readers talk of Borges' work they mention mystery, magic, metaphysics and other things that don't begin with M. They point out there's as much meat in a Borges story as in a novel written by anyone else.

In the end, there's only one answer to finding out what Borges' books are - read them.
